You’re looking to create memories with your money. I can relate.

In fact, the ability to create is one of life’s great joys. I’ve always loved creating—music, videos, television segments.

But, creating memories are the best! My wife, Malisa, and I have more than our fair share these days. With four little ones, our days are filled with boundless creativity. All of it brings a smile, though sometimes that smile is buried beneath a grin of nerves when markers hit the sofa, the siding or Stella the dog.

My parents helped create my passion for personal finance in the early 90s when they slapped down my desire to buy video games. They believed in delayed gratification, hence the draw towards investing. They showed me how to buy stocks and mutual funds. This was before the internet and digital payments. So it took some effort.

Today, I love teaching others the lessons I learned way back. I love helping people create opportunities for their future, seeing their joy when they learn of new possibilities for their life. And, hearing their joy as they describe recent vacations, hobbies and family experiences.

Sometimes these memories are made in a client meeting. Sometimes, it’s out on the street from a stranger who watched the Mike on the Money television segments on WYFF News 4.

Either way, their memories become mine. I get to feel their excitement, their joy and it inspires me to find others. To help more people discover what’s possible for their own lives if they make sound financial decisions and create a plan for future memories.
